Health & Safety Policy

Northern Haulage & Diesel Services is committed to achieving a high level of performance in occupational health and safety with the aim of creating and maintaining a safe and healthy working environment.

Consistent with this, the company will:

  • Seek to continuously improve its health and safety performance taking into account changing community standards, management responsibilities and practices, knowledge and technology.
  • Comply with all applicable laws, regulations and standards and to develop, apply and regularly review an appropriate Health and Safety System.
  • Identify, manage and control risk by implementing systems such as Safe Work Procedures, Safe Work Instructions, Job Safety Environment Analysis’, Hazard Surveys and Control Practices that must be implemented before a task is undertaken and to regularly review these systems.
  • Involve employees and contractors in the improvement of occupational health and safety performance.
  • Ensure that all employees, contractors and visitors are made aware of their obligations in respect of this policy.
  • Train and hold individuals accountable for their area of responsibility.
  • Communicate openly with employees, government and the community on occupational health and safety issues.

Environmental Policy

Northern Haulage & Diesel Services is committed to effective management of environmental concerns. Northern Haulage & Diesel Services have developed an Integrated Management System (IMS) to establish and maintain environmental standards that are consistent with, and adhere to, industry codes of practice and relevant statutory requirements.

 General Aims

  1. To promote through all the business activities, a sound awareness of, and favourable attitudes and behaviours towards the environment among all employees.
  2. Reduce the adverse impacts of the business activities on the local environment and where / if applicable on the national and global environments.

The Policy

Northern Haulage & Diesel Services:

  • recognises its environmental obligations, both locally and globally, to present and future generations.
  • accepts its responsibility for environmental protection.
  • will operate in a manner which protects the environment, especially relating to the health of company employees.
  • Are aware of and monitor its environmental legislative obligations.
  • will endeavour to ensure that all employees and visitors are made aware of the company’s environmental values and the types of behaviour which might be detrimental to those values.
  • will use this environmental policy to establish a framework for setting and reviewing environmental goals.

Environmental Principles

To support Northern Haulage & Diesel Services Environmental Policy, the following   principles have been developed to provide additional direction on specific issues.

Northern Haulage & Diesel Services will employ the best practicable methods to:

  • Protect native flora and fauna.
  • Avoid disturbance of cultural and historical sites.
  • Conserve energy (produced by non-renewable resources and by methods which pollute the environment).
  • Conserve water resources and minimise wastewater disposal.
  • Minimise and, where possible, eliminate the use of harmful substances.
  • Ensure the correct and safe disposal of all substances.
  • Minimise waste generation through reduction, reuse and recycling.
  • Minimise pollution - noise, visual, electromagnetic radiation, odour.
  • Address environmental concerns in all planning and landscaping decisions.
  • Encourage procurement procedures that adhere to the principles of the environmental policy.
  • Encourage training and research activities designed to facilitate and implement specific components of this policy.
  • Regularly audit its Integrated Management System.

Quality Policy

Northern Haulage & Diesel Services are committed to our clients by providing them services, products and equipment that meets and exceeds their needs. We understand and are committed to implementing, improving and maintaining conformity in how we deliver our services. This has been developed through our Integrated Management System (IMS) by:

  • Providing a safe work environment with an IMS prepared for early identification of potential risks or hazards to reduce the likelihood of accident, illness or injury.
  • Demonstrating the ability to consistently provide products and services that meets client and legislative requirements;
  • Ensuring all our employees support continuous improvement of services, products and client satisfaction;
  • Setting measurable and realistic objectives and targets and regularly review our performance;
  • Continuously monitoring and evaluating our activities so that we may identify opportunities for improvement;
